System Requirements

Prolydian technical requirements: 

  • Devices: Laptop, desktop computer
    • Tablets and mobile devices are supported; however, we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer for the best user experience. Remote proctored exams have additional requirements, so always make sure you complete the Computer Requirements check before you begin your exam.
    • Be sure to check any specific requirements for the proctoring service that your exam provider uses.
  • Internet Browser: Prolydian supports all major, updated browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. The system does not support outdated browsers such as Internet Explorer.
    • If you are using Internet Explorer or an outdated browser, the system will alert you that some functionality may not be available to you. Please update the browser or install an updated browser before continuing.
    • Be sure to check any specific requirements for the proctoring service that your exam provider uses.
  • Operating System: Prolydian supports all operating systems, including MacOS. The only requirement is that an updated browser is installed on the operating system.

  • Web Camera: Minimum- 640×480 resolution, Recommended- 1280×720 resolution
    • Only required for proctored exam sessions
  • Internet Download Speed: Prolydian’s exam delivery system is designed to require a minimal internet connection speed. Speeds greater than 5mbps are recommended, however slower speeds will still allow you to access and complete the exam. You will not lose exam time due to slower internet connections.
    • We recommend having a hard-wired connection instead of a wireless connection to prevent any disruptions, however stable wireless connections are acceptable.
  • RAM: Minimum – 2GB, Recommended- 4GB
  • A Functioning Microphone: Webcams with built in microphones and stand alone microphones supported
    • Only required for proctored exam sessions
  • Not Supported:
    • Outdated browsers, including Internet Explorer

ProctorU technical requirements: 

  • Guardian Browser is required for testing. Download here.
  • Operating System: macOS X 10.13 or higher, Windows 10 or higher. ProctorU does not support Linux or Chrome OS
  • Web Camera: Minimum- 640×480 resolution, Recommended- 1280×720 resolution
  • Internet Download Speed: A required upload and download speed of 2Mbps, with 10Mbps preferred
  • RAM: Minimum – 2GB, Recommended- 4GB
  • A Functioning Microphone: Webcams with built in microphones and stand alone microphones supported
  • Not Supported:
    • Tablets (iPad, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Note, etc.)
    • Mobile (Android, iOS)
    • ARM CPU Architecture
    • Chromebooks

  • Google Chrome is required to be installed on your computer
  • Operating System: macOS X 10.13 or higher, Windows 10 or higher.
  • Phone Operating System: Android OS 6.0 or higher and iOS (Apple) 12.0 mobile phone with a functioning camera
  • Web Camera: Minimum- 640×480 resolution, Recommended- 1280×720 resolution
  • Internet Download Speed: A required upload and download speed of 2Mbps, with 10Mbps preferred
  • RAM: Minimum – 2GB, Recommended- 4GB
  • A Functioning Microphone: Webcams with built in microphones and stand alone microphones supported. Both cell phone and laptop/computer need to have a functioning microphone.
  • Power Supply: Your devices need to be connected to a power source throughout your exam. Ensure that you will have a phone cord (recommended 6ft long, extension cord is sufficient) so that your phone may be propped in a six foot radius from your testing space.
  • Not Supported:
  • Tablets are not recommended (iPad, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Note, etc.)
