What is a Blueprint?
A blueprint is a guide that shows what topics an exam should cover—kind of like a plan for building a house, but for a test instead. It helps make sure the right subjects are included and shows how much each one should count.
When you're creating test questions (called “items”), you can mark which topic (or “domain”) from the blueprint the question is about. That way, it’s clear what the question is testing. Each item bank or exam can only use one blueprint at a time.
Attaching a blueprint to your item bank will allow you to easily assign a domain to one or more items and filter your item listing by domain. Within your item bank you can either attach an existing blueprint or make an entirely new one.
Log into your Prolydian account at https://app.prolydian.com and go to Exams > Blueprints
Click “Create new”
Add the name of the blueprint. There is also the option to add what the blueprint is for
- Click “Save”
Search for your blueprint by name and select
Once your blueprint is open, select “Add domain”.
After selecting 'Add domain', enter the following information:
- Parent domain - leave blank to make a new parent domain or choose one to create a subdomain
- Name
- Code - this is a shorthand version of the domain name that will appear throughout the item bank
- Weight - optional
- Description - optional
Press save
Once attached or created a blueprint’s domains can be amended or removed from within the Blueprint tab of your item bank, or from Exams > Blueprints > “Your blueprint.”
You can amend the blueprint title by selecting the pen tool next to the blueprint name.
To amend your domains, select the pen tool next to the individual domain and choose 'Amend'.
